DAVE CLAUS – CONTENT CREATOR/WRITER
After trying out carpentry, being a longshoreman and faltering as a rock star, I sprinted to the Portfolio Center in Atlanta and then to Leo Burnett to begin my advertising career. Where I had the fun and fortune to work on Kellogg’s, United Airlines, Dewar’s, Johnnie Walker, Altoids, Reebok, among others. After putting a few awards in my pockets, I left for FCB Chicago and then DDB Chicago, where I spent several years working on Lands’ End, Busch Beer, State Farm and even helped land a few new business wins along the way. Post DDB, I sold everything I owned, moved to Costa Rica and taught surfing. Hard as it is to believe, that got boring pretty quickly… So I moved back to Chicago, began freelancing and worked for an incredible variety of clients before running into the talented, hard working gang at McGarryBowen. Free time now consists of guitar, running, script writing and always keeping an eye out for that next adventure…AWARDS: AdWeek Best Spots of the Month (Three Times); Pro Award – Best Integrated Campaign; Mobius Award (Twice); One Show; The New York Festivals; Ad Age (Ad of the Week); Pinnacle Award; Creativity 27; Obie Award; The London International Advertising Awards; Cresta International Advertising Awards
MY VIEW
The name of the game is ‘adaptation’. I see change. I see opportunity. I see consumers with more and more control of what they watch. It’s no longer about sending a message, but about having a conversation. It’s about honesty. It’s about companies knowing themselves and being true to that personality — seamlessly across all media.
